Eight students from Stansted Airport College have started their first week on the job as part of a brand-new work experience scheme launched by London Stansted.

The summer programme, which runs through July and August, gives students roles across the airport in customer service and security ambassador positions.The aim is to give them real-world experience in a busy airport environment while supporting their personal and career development.

Thom Lafferty, chief executive at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) and Jamie Coates, head of people resourcing and retention at PAHT, visited Stansted Airport College in March on a fact finding visit to learn more about how Stansted Airport College supports young people to take on apprenticeships through hands-on training and experience.

An early visitor to the Aerozone looking forward to their future learning with Stansted Airport College

London Stansted Airport’s Aerozone education centre has reached a significant milestone, welcoming its 25,000th young visitor since its opening in 2015.

The Rt Hon Robert Halfon, former Minister of State for Skills, Apprenticeships and Higher Education for the Department for Education, and former MP for Harlow, has officially started his new role as Chair of Stansted Airport College (STAC) Advisory Group.

Harlow College has been selected as one of ten schemes to receive funding from the Government's Reach for the Sky Challenge Fund. The College was the first Further Education College to establish a further education college, Stansted Airport College, at a major UK airport and who have been instrumental in the establishment of the College Aviation Network.
