Air Moldova touched down at Stansted (yesterday) in spectacular fashion with Chief Executive Officer and qualified captain, Iulian Scorpan, at the controls of the inaugural flight from Chisinau International Airport to mark the start of a new twice weekly service that doubles the airline’s capacity to London.
Stansted Airport’s fire service provided a traditional water arch salute to welcome arriving passengers, who were also handed complimentary first class Stansted Express tickets as they disembarked; and passengers waiting to board the flight to Moldova were treated to celebratory cake at the gate.
Speaking about the airline’s move back to Stansted, Iulian Scorpan CEO of Air Moldova said:
“This move to Stansted has given us the opportunity to double the frequency of flights we operate to London and I was so excited to be moving our UK flight operations from Gatwick that I decided to captain the inaugural flight myself. Direct connections to London are an important part of our business and this new twice weekly service to Stansted is already proving popular.
“Air Moldova’s business class passengers will also benefit from fast track at security and complimentary access to the No1 Traveller lounge at Stansted so I’m thrilled to finally touchdown and launch this new connection.”

ok ownership in February and welcoming the airline’s inaugural arrival was Operations Director, Martin Lyall, who said:
